I was on the reserve list for the first BarCampLondon, got a place, and enjoyed it so much I have been to all the two day BarCamps I have been able since. Now, I am seriously considering bringing my unicycle, so there may be more places on the second day while the original delegates are recovering in hospital. :-) For what it is worth, it is defiantly worth getting on the reserve list.
