Jay Caines-Gooby is taking over the reins of fundraising from Matt Weston and Paul Silver, who did a fab job with BCB1.

For those of you new to the concept of BarCamps and why you’d want to sponsor one; here’s the quick sell - BarCamp events are generally blogged about in great detail (and we all ♥ a bit of link-love don’t we!) so not only should you receive some good coverage as well as the gratitude of a whole bunch of local talent, they’re also excellent opportunities to do a bit of head-hunting.

The venue for the event is the University of Sussex Students Union building, making this the first English BarCamp to be held on a Uni campus; it’s great to be able to strengthen the links between a University with such a broad range of technical and human factors departments, the burgeoning digital and creative cluster in the city and the various community geek groups.

Number-wise we’re looking at between 100 and 150 attendees with a cost to sponsors of £5 per head. Sponsor packages (see below) will therefore be £500-£750 each. I’ll be emailing people who’ve already expressed an interest, so apologies if you suddenly feel inundated ;)

If you’d like your company to get involved, please drop me a line or comment below. We’re looking for a mix of local and international (I’m looking at you Bill, Jeff and Sergi ;)) sponsors, so don’t think you’re either too big or too small. Any offers of help are really appreciated!

As with the previous BarCamps we want the sponsorship to be as egalitarian as possible, so have tried to break everything down into equal chunks. The exception to this is the sponsorship for the USSU staffing; slightly more at £1000, but hassle-free as you write a cheque and that’s it :)

  1. USSU staffing (15th & 16th march)
  2. Breakfast catered by USSU (15th March)
  3. Lunch (15th March)
  4. Dinner catered by USSU (15th March)
  5. Beers from the USSU bar (15th March)
  6. Tea, coffee and water (15th March)
  7. Snacks (15th March)
  8. Breakfast catered by USSU (16th March)
  9. Lunch (16th March)
  10. Tea, coffee and water (16th March)
  11. Snacks (16th March)

To make things as simple as possible, we’d typically expect the sponsor to purchase and arrange for delivery at the venue of the items, this way you don’t need to hand money over to us and we don’t need a bank account to deal with it. The meals catered by USSU are even easier to deal with as you pay them and they’ll sort the details out.

Again, if you’re interested in sponsoring us, please drop Jay a line.
